'People are leaving their animals behind': Ruffneck Rescue tackles growing animal crisis in West Odessa

A local nonprofit is working to address the issue of animal overpopulation in West Texas. Ruffneck Rescue, based in Odessa, provides care for dogs in need. The organization is capable of caring for nearly 50 dogs at a time.

The rescue effort is led by founder Ruby Mendez. Her goal is to find homes for the dogs, with a focus on placing them outside of the area.
